Application Instructions
It’s best to water lightly and introduce them into your environment in the evening. Providing flowers can help sustain their populations longer.
Open the container. Allow Cryptolaemus to emerge on their own, or sprinkle them on infested plants.
Warning! Adults fly and may leave, use insect netting on greenhouse vents.
Preventive application rates* generally range from 2-5 individuals per m², 5-10 individuals per m² for light infestations, and 10 to 20 individuals per m² for severe infestations. Repeat introductions every 2 or 3 weeks, until control.
*Introduction rates may vary depending on specific crop conditions, the type of pest present, and the level of infestation.
Storage Instructions
Use them upon receipt. Mortality of less than 10% is normal.
Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Description
Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is a species of ladybird beetle, also known as the Mealybug Destroyer. It is typically small in size, measuring around 3 mm in length.
Both the adult and larval stages of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri are predatory, feeding on mealybugs, scale insects, and some species of aphids. It is widely used as a biological agent in the control of mealybugs, particularly Planococcus citri and Pseudococcus spp.
Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is an excellent addition to any garden as it helps to control the population of mealybugs and other plant-sucking insects.
