Product description

Description

Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is a species of ladybird beetle, also known as the Mealybug Destroyer. It is typically small in size, measuring around 3 mm in length.

Both the adult and larval stages of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri are predatory, feeding on mealybugs, scale insects, and some species of aphids. It is widely used as a biological agent in the control of mealybugs, particularly Planococcus citri and Pseudococcus spp.

Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is an excellent addition to any garden as it helps to control the population of mealybugs and other plant-sucking insects.

Targeted crops

  • Citrus
  • Indoor plants
  • Ornamental plants

Targeted pests

  • Mealybugs

Application Instructions

Cryptolaemus montrouzieri are active from April to July when temperatures are above 16°C. However, as soon as the temperature exceeds 35°C, their activity decreases significantly. It is best to lightly water and introduce them into your environment in the evening. In addition, providing flowers can help maintain these populations for longer.

However, prior pesticide application may make it difficult for Cryptolaemus colonies to establish. Please note that ants are known to interfere with colonization efforts by attacking your allies.

Storage Instructions

Water the greenhouse and introduce the Cryptolaemus in the morning or evening. Carefully open the container or sprinkle them onto the infested plants. Adult Cryptolaemus montrouzieri can easily fly out of the greenhouse, so installing mosquito nets is advisable. For best results, repeat this treatment every two or three weeks. Use them upon receipt; do not freeze or refrigerate.
