Product description

Description

Stethorus punctillum are tiny hairy beetles. The particularity of this ladybug is to individually lay their eggs on the underside of leaves infested by spider mites. Females can lay up to 13 eggs per day. Adults, with the ability to feed on all stages of spider mites (eggs, larvae, nymphs, and adults), are thus powerful predators for these pest mites in several crops (peppers, cannabis, cucumbers, etc.).

Stethorus punctillum ladybugs do not attack other predatory mites. This is good news for the establishment of an integrated pest management program including this ally. They also have the advantage of tolerating highly variable humidity conditions ranging from 30% to 90%, which facilitates their use for a wider range of crops with different humidity needs.

Targeted crops

  • Cannabis
  • Vegetable crops:
    • Cucumbers
    • Tomatoes
    • Peppers
    • Melon, etc.
  • Ornamental crops

Targeted pests

  • Two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae)
  • Spruce spider mite (Oligonychus ununguis)
  • European red mite (Panonychus ulmi)

Application Instructions

Stethorus punctillum is a slow-developing species that can be difficult to control in greenhouses where light and temperature conditions are low.

Open the container. Allow to emerge on their own, or sprinkle them on infested plants.
Warning! Adults fly and may leave, use insect netting on greenhouse vents.

Preventive application rates* generally range from 0.5-1 individuals per m², 2-5 individuals per m² for light infestations, and 10-20 individuals per m² for severe infestations. Repeat introductions every week until control.

*Introduction rates may vary depending on specific crop conditions, the type of pest present, and the level of infestation.

Storage Instructions

Use upon receipt to ensure maximum efficacy. If needed, keep for a maximum of 1 to 2 days at a temperature of 10-16°C.

Do not refrigerate or freeze.
