Mined i a mixture of several species of entomopathogenic nematodes of the the genus Steinernema et Heterorhabditis which attack Root aphids (Phylloxera sp.).

Entomopathogenic nematodes are distributed in the juvenile stage (infectious larvae). There are 0,4 to 1,5 mm long and can be observed with a 20 X magnifying glass. Once in the soil, they penetrate in the insect pest by its natural openings (mouth, respiratory orifices and anus). The Nematodes feed on the tissues and release symbiotic bacteria that are present in their intestines. These bacteria kill the host after 24 to 48 hours.

Mined can be applied using common application equipment, (including tank sprayers, backpack sprayers and irrigation injection systems). For optimal results, combine the action of the nematodes Mined with the application of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana – Biopesticide BioCeres G WP (Available for commercial production only).

  • Cannabis
  • Ornamental
  • Vegetables (market garden)
  • Herbs

  • Root aphids

  • Optimum conditions are a temperature between 15 to 20°C and moist soil.
  • Become inactive below 15°C and above 30°C.
  • The ideal pH is between 4 to 8.
  • After their application, juvenile nematodes look for hosts to infect.
  • They enter the target insects through their natural orifices (mouth, anus and spiracles).
  • They then release a bacterium that kills the host within a few days.
  • Nematodes cause host death within days.

Sponge with nematodes

A synthetic sponge containing entomopathogenic nematodes. Just squeeze the sponge into the water to make the nematode solution.

Before starting

  • Always check the viability of your beneficial nematodes.
  • To do this, place a small amount of your nematode mixture in a transparent plastic bag (eg: ziploc bag) and observe the nematodes using a 20 X magnifying glass.
  • Live nematodes (0.4 to 1, 5 mm) squirm or are shaped like an “S”.
  • Dead nematodes are immobile and straight.

Application rate

Nematodes Mined
Formats treated area (ft2)
10 million 500 ft2
25 million 1000 to 1500 ft2
50 million 1500 to 2000 ft2

  • Sponges can not be subdivided, however well mixed solution can be portioned.
  • Once a sponge is mixed with water into a suspension, use the entire suspension immediately.
  • Use cool/tepid water for mixing and keep tank out of direct sunlight.
  • Remove filters that are finer than 100 mesh from application equipment and nozzles.
  • Do not use in application systems where nozzle aperture is smaller than 0.149 mm (149 microns).
  • Do not exceed 300 PSI pump pressure.
  • Provide gentle agitation or aeration to the nematode solution during application.
  • Do not store extra product once mixed with water.

  • Upon receipt of product, remove from shipping packaging and use immediately or store in a refrigerated area 5 °C (40 °F) Do not freeze.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Do not use if incorrectly stored.
  • Store for a maximum of 6 weeks.
  • Always check viability before making the root application (see section Before starting)
